Golf Carts are a convenience and can be a lot of fun. In fact, for many it's a necessity. But should you buy a Gas or Electric Golf Cart? Which one is best? Here are a few pros and cons for each to help you make up your mind:

    • While the electric golf cart will require a new battery every 5 to 7 years and the price for the battery will run between $ 600 and $700, the gas golf cart will nickle and dime you with oil, gas, filters, belts and tune ups. All in all, the regular maintenance expense on a gas or electric golf cart will be about the same.
    • The electric golf cart will only go 25 to 30 miles between charges, while the gas golf cart will keep going as long as you keep putting in gas. And you can store a gas golf cart anywhere you have room, while an electric golf cart has to have access to electrical power.
    • Electric golf carts are quiet, while gas golf carts are noisy and usually get noisier as they age. This can make a significant impact on your and your fellow golfers enjoyment at the golf course.
    • Most electric golf carts can be expected to last 20 years or more if well cared for, but with a gas golf cart, even with the best of care you will have to replace the cart long before an electric model. And consequently, the resale value of an electric golf cart will be much higher than the resale on a gas golf cart.
